WINNER:The Grand Budapest Hotel

2:40pm: And winner of best speech - so far - goes to Michael Keaton, who spoke about growing up in the Ohio Valley, where his father worked two jobs and his mother raised seven kids while volunteering at the hospital he was born in (in the hallway).
"My name is Michael John Douglas,he said.In the household in which I was raised, the themes were pretty simple - work hard, don't quit, be appreciative, be thankful, be grateful, be respectful."
Keaton then broke his own rule, 'no crying'videodramas.blogspot.com
, as he thanked his son and best friend, Sean. "My best friend is kind, intelligent, funny, talented, considerate... did I say kind? He also happens to be my son, Sean. I love you with all my heart buddy.
2:30pm Louise Rugendyke: It's the second award for The Affair (coming to Showcase here soon). Don't know who Ruth Wilson is? She's now starring on stage with Jake Gyllenhaal in Constellations.

2:16pm: George Clooney pays small tribute to Robin Williams. "I'm not sure what kind of hardware Robin Williams took home, but I sure remember carpe diem, and sieze the days, boys."
2:15pm Louise Rugendyke:
Ever the humanitarian, George is wearing a "Jes suis Charlie" badge. Amal had a matching one on her bag, too.
2:11pm: Who knows George better? Juliana Margulies and Don Cheadle play that game as Amal watches on.
Have you been to a disaster zone with him? "Yes, I went to the set of Monuments Men," says Cheadle.
We all want to be an FOG - Friend of George, says Margulies. "He is that rare combination of humanitarian who is tireless in his efforts to help those in need around the globe and a caring friend to all he meets."
And cut to a montage of all the reasons all the world loves Clooney. Including his guest spot on Southpark. "We accidentally replaced your heart with a baked potato."
2:10pm Louise Rugendyke: Don Cheadle sums it up: We all want to be a FOG - a friend of George.
2:07pm Louise Rugendyke: Before George Clooney is presented with his Cecil B. DeMille award by former ER co-star Julianna Margulies, let's reminisce about Carol and Doug

2:03pm: George Clooney is up next receiving the Cecil B. Demille Award. Which is pretty much the only reason anyone's watching, right? Aside from Tina and Amy.
1:59pm: They let Katherine Heigl in the building? She's presenting with David Duchovny, who is apparently ageless. Could The Affair take another? Nope. Frank Underwood wouldn't let that happen.

We got a little trigger-happy with the Best Actress in a TV Movie/Mini-series announcement and had Allison Tolman from Fargo winning instead of Maggie Gyllenhaal. Our bad. But Tolman was amazing. The mistake has been corrected below.

1:49pm: Maggie Gyllenhaal, who won Best Actress in a TV Movie or Mini-series devotes a large chunk of her speech to the place of women on the screen. What I think is new is the wealth of roles for actual women in television and in film. She thanks her children:My daughters, who will one day be great women.

1:41pm Louise Rugendyke: House of Cards or House of Lies? Maybe Lily Tomlin and Jane Fonda were, ah, high when they got the name of Don Cheadle's show mixed up. For the record: House of Lies is Cheadle's show, while House of Cards belongs to Kevin Spacey et al.

Golden Globes 2015 live ceremony: winners and awards highlights
Who will take out the top gongs on one of Hollywood's biggest awards nights? Find out here as Tina Fey and Amy Poehler host the 72nd Golden Globes.
Oh, we're at the pointy end... and we have an upset.
Best Motion Picture (Comedy or Musical)
The nominees are:
Birdman
The Grand Budapest Hotel
Into the Woods
Pride
As promised, Bill Cosby was the target of a couple of jibes at the hands of Golden Globes presenters Tina Fey and Amy Poehler despite the continuing controversy and sexual assault claims surrounding the 77-year-old comic.
A visibly aghast but amused audience would not have been surprised by the gags, with Fey promising days ago that jokes would be cracked at Cosby's expense.
1:35pm: Best Actor in a TV Series (Comedy or Musical)
The nominees are:

Louis C. K. Louie
Don Cheadle, House of Lies
Ricky Gervais, Derek
William H. Macy, Shameless
Jeffrey Tambor, Transparent
WINNER: Jeffrey Tambor, Transparent

1:29pm Louise Rugendyke: Kristen Wiig and Bill Hader were in the excellent Skeleton Twins last year. Dig it out!
1:27pm: Margaret Cho - as a North Korean general-journalist - says what most people are thinking: Orange Is The New Black is a drama, not a comedy. She also has some pointers for next year's broadcast.
"In North Korea we know how to put on a show. This is not a show. You not have 1000 babies playing guitar at same time... you no have Dennis Rodman.
1:23pm Louise Rugendyke Yes Patricia Arquette was brilliant in Boyhood. The whole film is worth watching over and over again and the soundtrack is excellent for running, too (except for the Bob Dylan part - strictly for warm down purposes only).
Upvotes:1 Downvotes:
1:23pm: Arquette's speech incredibly moving as she pays tribute to her own parents - thanking director Richard Linklater for letting her "honour my own mother with this beautiful character" - and then paying tribute to her own kids.
"My favourite role in this whole life has been being your mum."
It's the kind of speech Oscar voters may want to hear again.

1:22pm Michael Idato: The phrase "shock win" is perhaps the most overused in the realm of televised awards nights, but it could be said that How To Train Your Dragon 2 taking out outstanding animated feature is just that. The favourite in the category was The LEGO Movie and it's hard to see how that film, with the critical and box office love it won, ultimately lost. What's next? Taken 5 takes out outstanding motion picture drama?
Upvotes:3 Downvotes:
1:20pm Louise Rugendyke: What? How to Train Your Dragon 2 beats The Lego Movie. That makes Australia two down - Sia and now the Australian-made Lego movie is out. Looks like Frances O'Connor is our only hope for The Missing.videodramas.blogspot.com
1:20pm:
1:19pm: Jared Leto still rocking the white tux as he sends out a message of support to "friends" in France. He's here to present Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture. Patricia Arquette is the favourite, but she has a Streep-sized mountain to climb... And she does!
Best Supporting Actress
The nominees are:
Patricia Arquette, Boyhood
Jessica Chastain, A Most Violent Year
Keira Knightley, The Imitation Game
Emma Stone, Birdman
Meryl Streep, Into the Woods
WINNER: Patricia Arquette, Boyhood
Upvotes:2 Downvotes:0
1:15pm: WHAT!?
Best Animated Feature Film
The nominees are:
Big Hero 6
The Book of Life
The Boxtrolls
How to Train Your Dragon 2
The Lego Movie
WINNER: How to Train Your Dragon 2
1:14pm Michael Idato: Meryl Streep is the most honoured actress in Golden Globe history: the Into the Woods nominee has received 29 Golden Globe nominations and won on eight of those occasions, most recently for her work on The Iron Lady at 2012's 69th annual Golden Globes. Streep is leading the pack by a long run; some way behind her are the likes of Jack Nicholson, Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine.
1:14pm: Salma Hayek Pinault is presenting in al-foil and Kevin Hart is presenting/spruiking his probably not great film. They're here to introduce Ms Golden Globes, Greer Grammer, who is excellent as Lissa, the good girl gone very bad in Mtv's Awkward.
1:11pm Louise Rugendyke: Ricky Gervais gets in the good digs. "Let's not ruin it by me saying. anything really.
"Nobody wants to see my insult any of you rich, beautiful over-privileged people."
"Famous people are above the lawas it should be. Streep. Clooney. I'm not even looking at Katie Holmes.
1:08pm: There was no lock on the Best Actress (Comedy or Musical) award, but still, Amy Adams was a bit of a surprise win. Against the double-nominated Julianne Moore and Emily Blunt, the best thing about the very good Into The Woods, this might be the first upset of the night.
Meanwhile, Amy might have made a few nights, you know, just on the off-chance. Bit rambly.
12:12pm: Benedict Cumberbatch is up first presenting with Jennifer Aniston ("I was supposed to do this by myself"). Cumberbatch is squinting... more than usual. Best supporting actor... It's between Norton and Simmons.
12:10pm: In answer to the question, will Tina and Amy talk about Cosby: Yes, with impersonations.
Tina: I put the pills into the people, the people did not want the pills in them."
Amy: "I got the pills in the bathroom and I put them people.12:06pm: So far so good for Tina and Amy: Ripping Emma Stone for her 'big eyes', Carrell a "paranoid nervous millionaire", Wes Anderson's tuba bike, Joaquin called out. Strongest line goes to their take on Patricia Arquette in Boyhood: "Still great roles for women over 40 as long as you get hired when you're under 30.
Wait, scrap that. New best line RE George and Amal: Tonight, her husband is getting a lifetime achievement award.

12:02pm: Tina and Amy target The Interview straight off the bat. North Korea's banned the film Forcing us all to pretend we wanted to see it." Kim Jong is chuckling somewhere.

11:53am: So 2014.videodramas.blogspot.com
As we head into the boozed-up mayhem of another Golden Globes ceremony, we reflect on last year’s boozed-up mayhem with a quick wrap of the 2014 awards.
And so Previously on the Golden Globes
Our Cate won best actress in a motion picture (drama) for her work in Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine thanking Allen and the whole cast and crew for "plying me with vodka in the way that Judy Garland was probably [supplied] with barbiturates". (Sidenote: we went to a screening that Blanchett hosted in Sydney in 2013 where she told us she was sitting in a greenroom downing vodka and smoking while the film was on - she's a wild one that Cate.)
The win secured Blanchett her lock on the best actress Oscar. She also re-secured her place in our hearts when she was heard saying “I hated every second of that interview” following her red carpet chat with Ryan Seacrest.
Emma Thompson also endeared herself when she went on stage to announce the best screenplay award with her Christian Louboutin heels in one hand and a Martini glass in the other. I just want you to know, she said, eyeing the signature red underside of the shoes, it’s my blood".
12 Years A Slave won best picture (drama), setting itself up for its coming Oscars win; American Hustle took home best picture (musical or comedy).
Jennifer Lawrence won best supporting actress in a motion picture for American Hustle and managed to stay standing all the way onto the stage and off it again. The very pretty Jared Leto won best supporting actor for Urban Legend,videodramas.blogspot.com, we mean, Dallas Buyers Club.
At the peak of what some were calling the McConaissance, Matthew McConaughey won best actor in a motion picture drama for Dallas Buyers Club. Director Jean-Marc Vallée also directed Wild, for which Reese Witherspoon is nominated tonight.
Best original song went to Ordinary Love, by U2, for the film Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. It beat out a little song called Let It Go, which then faded into never-heard-again obscurity and proceeded to not drive parents nuts for the next year.
TV-wise, it was Breaking Bad’s year, with the series taking out best drama and best actor for Bryan Cranston. In the comedy awards, co-host Amy Poehler won best actress (and is, criminally in our minds, not nominated this year) videodramas.blogspot.com, while Brooklyn Nine-Nine took out best series and best actor for Andy Samberg. You can find it somewhere on Australian TV if you stay up really late and look really hard.
OK, so now we’re all caught up
1:35pm: Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, possibly the best women ever: "I just thought you were high that day "Two things can be true.
1:34pm Philippa Hawker:Is this the beginning of the Birdman juggernaut?

1:33pm Philippa Hawker: Whoever wrote the best screenplay gags is making the point, but not in a good way.

1:30pm: Best Screenplay
The nominees are:
Wes Anderson, The Grand Budapest Hotel
Gillian Flynn, Gone Girl
Alejandro González Iñárritu, Nicolás Giacobone, Alexander Dinelaris, Armando Bo, Birdman
Richard Linklater, Boyhood
Graham Moore, The Imitation Game
WINNER: Alejandro González Iñárritu, Nicolás Giacobone, Alexander Dinelaris, Armando Bo, Birdman

11:50am: A little prezzie from our Globes co-hosts today - a sneak peek at Fey and Poehler's upcoming film Sisters. The answer is yes, Tina, we are very much ready for all this jelly.
11:41am: Welcome to our live blog of the 2015 Golden Globes where we'll be following all the results, quips and slips from the ceremony. We hope you enjoy... and pray you forgive our typos. videodramas.blogspot.com
On the movie front, it could be a big night for Birdman, the Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu film that's resurrected Michael Keaton's career and won the hearts of critics. The film leads the pack with seven nominations. Keaton is up for best actor in a comedy or musical and is a hot favourite, Inarritu up for best director for his audacious kinda-single-shot style, and the film up for best picture (musical or comedy).
Selma, Ava DuVernay's historical drama based around the 1965 Selma to Montgomery Civil Rights marches, could be the surprise in the drama category, beating out favourites like The Imitation Game and Boyhood. Momentum is building for the film and for its star, David Oyelowo, who plays Martin Luther King Jr. (We are currently practising how to spell "Oyelowo".)
Over in TV land, critics are wondering whether it could (finally) be The Good Wife’s year. The critical darling and frequent awards bridesmaid will have to beat out newcomer The Affair as well as perennials Downton Abbey, Game of Thrones, The Good Wife and House of Cards for the win. That Downton Abbey is up for this award is a bit embarrassing, but that's not something we say out loud for fear Dame Maggie might hear us.
Comedy-wise, our hot tip is to watch out for Transparent – about a family who discover their father is transgender – and Fox 8's Jane the Virgin. We don’t like to make over-confident predictions, but we confidently predict Jane star Gina Rodriguez is a lock on best actress in a comedy.
Speaking of predictions: there are high expectations for the unpredictable Tina Fey and Amy Poehler in their final year of hosting the Globes (at least for now). Who will draw their gibes? Will George and Amal be safe?
And on a more somber note, we're also expecting tributes to flow from the stage for the victims of the recent attacks in Paris. Already Diane Kruger displayed a 'Je Suis Charlie' sign on the red carpet, as did a number of photographers in the press pool.
Stay tuned-videodramas.blogspot.com
